The Challenge
In the NAB’s 2007 Shareholder Review, the CFO’s message included a section discussing the NAB’s work to obtain advanced accreditation under Basel II, which is an international standard for banks to guard against operational and financial risk.
The Solution
The bank approached Hyperware to help them design, develop and implement a browser based Risk Management System using Lotus Domino within their WebSphere Portal environment. This was a key component of their strategy to gain Basel II accreditation.
The Result
Hyperware created a highly secure Risk Management System to manage risk across the NAB worldwide. Security is controlled per risk and per business unit while allowing global management of risk plans, controls, action management and event management. As reported in the Group CFO’s message in the NAB’s 2008 Shareholder Review, they subsequently obtained Basel II accreditation successfully. The system is critical to the bank managing their risks in these uncertain economic times.
